Moto3 never fails to deliver exciting and action packed races, and today’s race in Aragon was no different. Let’s go over the highs and lows of today’s race:

Highlights

David Domination

Muñoz and Quiles gave the audience quite the final lap of the race. With constant battles throughout the race for positions, the race was truly decided in the final corner, with David Muñoz taking first position through turn 17 and beating Máximo Quiles by only 0.05 seconds! A true photo finish! The Liqui Moly KTM rider earned his victory today, making up 8 places in the race and scoring vital points for his team. The Spaniard simply didn’t put a foot wrong.

Battle for the podium

Finishing behind the top two was Alvaro Carpe, who managed to claim the final podium position ahead of David Almansa. Both riders made up positions in today’s race. Today’s Moto3 race in Aragon gave spectators a 17 lap long battle for the podium, with any of the top lot being in with a chance at some stage during the race. Luca Lunetta missed out on a podium today, having started in P2, the Italian unfortunately only managed to secure P5.

Further back in the midfield

Despite the main race being at the front of the pack, the midfield riders didn’t shy away from on track action. Noah Dettwiler had an impressive comeback ride, making up 8 places by the chequered flag to finish P16. Plenty of wheel to wheel action between the Swiss rider and the two Rivacold Snipers Honda riders Nicola Carraro and Riccardo Rossi, who finished in P17 and 18 respectively.

Low Points

Disaster for Rueda

Having taken pole and lead the majority of the race, victory seemed certain for Jose Antonio Rueda. With 6 laps to go in the race, the KTM rider makes a costly error and falls to P6. This mistake seemed to mess with Ruedas confidence and concentration as he struggled to reclaim his position in the race. The current Moto3 championship leader making unusual errors and he found himself finishing today’s race in Aragon P8. While not necessarily hurting his championship chances, this was different result than what we are used to seeing from him. He and his team will be hoping to turn things around next race.

Ruined races

Australian rider Jacob Roulstone will want to forget today’s race, having started in P6 in his best qualifying so far this season, his bike suffered technical issues in lap 6 and he sadly had to DNF from the session. Stefano Nepa was also unable to complete today’s Moto3 race, as he was collected by Vincente Perez in a fall. Perez was however able to rejoin the race. Marcos Uriate was at some stage seen returning to the pits with an issue, but was later able to return to the race to complete some laps and see the chequered flag.

With a dramatic conclusion to round 8 in Aragon, Moto3 will return for the Italian Grand Prix in Mugello!
