The final Free Practice session for Moto2 at MotorLand Aragón delivered entertainment with Öncü topping the session. He swapped fastest times with Moreira during the full 30 mins, ultimately coming on top. His time of 1:50.190 set a new lap record and fired up the timesheets.
Öncü The Rider To Beat
The Turkish rider, who claimed his maiden Moto2 podium at this circuit last season, seems to be in great form. He already went quickest in FP1 on Friday as well. In the final minutes, he lowered the benchmark, finishing 0.3 seconds above his closest rivals. If the times are anything to go by, he will be the rider to beat heading into qualifying.
The Top 5
Early in the session, it was Moreira who looked stronger on his Kalex, temporarily breaking the lap record himself before Öncü struck back. They traded fastest laps through the session, but it was Öncü who came out on top.
Alonso was getting into the pace slower after his crash on Friday. He came back impressively and claimed third place on the timesheets. He was followed by Baltus with strong long-run pace and López in P5.
The Championship Leader
Championship leader Gonzalez ended the session lower in eighth. His closest rivals – Canet and Dixo – only finished tenth and twelfth, respectively though.
With Öncü being the fastest in another session, qualifying promises to be entertaining once again.
