He earned his first win of 2025 in Shanghai. He fought for the championship all throughout 2024, Nick Cassidy didn’t just drive for Jaguar, he led them to the top.
Rumors spread like wildfire, throughout the Formula E paddock as reports indicate that the Kiwi is set to leave Jaguar TCS Racing.

According to The Race, Cassidy has signed a long term agreement with another team for the next season, which will will last well into the new Gen4 rules beginning at the end of 2026.
Marking one of the biggest shakeups the sport has seen in recent years.
Cassidy’s time in Jaguar
Cassidy moved to Jaguar for the 2024 season after a standout run at Envision, the lead driver who’s constantly fighting for wins.
In the 2024 season, he was third in the Drivers’ Championship, securing two wins and six podiums in his maiden season with the team.
However, uncertainties arose last July at the London finale as Da Costa inadvertently damaged the Kiwi’s car well after the team put him and his teammate on a confusing strategy to fend off Pascal Wehrlein who ultimately beat both drivers to the title.
This season, both drivers have struggled to maintain consistency with the Jaguar Gen3 Evo package, where they constantly have issues adapting to the car and racing on the frontlines.
However, he ended his no-wins streak last week in Shanghai by conquering the torrential rain and securing his first win of the season, converting a win from pole position.

Team’s response
Jaguar issued a cautious response after these rumours came to light.
The team emphasized that both parties are committed to delivering their best performance during the remaining rounds of the season.
“Nick is an exceptional racing driver,“
“Our focus at Jaguar TCS Racing is to provide him with the very best race car we can for the remainder of season eleven so he can fight for points, podiums, and wins. That work continues here in Shanghai this weekend.”
– Team principal James Barclay.
Cassidy was quoted as part of the statement, too, simply saying that he and Jaguar will continue to “fight hard for success”.
Who can replace Cassidy?
Among the most obvious options are Jaguar’s current reserve and test drivers.
Joel Eriksson, a former DTM front-runner with Formula E experience for Dragon/Penske Autosport, has been working closely with Jaguar since 2023. Known for his technical feedback and solid one-lap pace, he could slot in seamlessly.
Similarly, Tom Dillmann, who’s been with Jaguar in a support role since 2021 and has over 20 E-Prix starts to his name, offers experience and familiarity with the electric series’ demands.
Taylor Barnard is another suitable candidate, with NEOM and McLaren exiting Formula E in summer, the young driver has established enough victories to catch the attention of big teams like Jaguar.
Whether Jaguar promotes from within or makes a move for another top-tier driver, Cassidy’s departure has set the foundation for one of the most exciting driver market stories of the 2025 Formula E season.
