Colton Herta dominated the second practice session on the streets of Detroit, clocking the fastest lap with a 1:01.782. He took control early and remained unchallenged, briefly losing the top spot before reclaiming it with a late flyer.
Top 5 Drivers to Watch
Behind Herta, Scott McLaughlin posted a solid 1:01.899, with Kyle Kirkwood close behind at 1:01.942. Callum Ilott and rookie Nolan Siegel Foster rounded out the top five with impressive consistency. These drivers are shaping up as serious contenders heading into qualifying.
Tire Trouble Across the Field
Much of the field struggled with tire temperatures. Several drivers ran off early in the session: Ilott, O’Ward, and VeeKay all found themselves in the escape roads, victims of cold tires and tricky conditions. No major damage, but plenty of data gathered.
The Qualifying Question
With cloudy skies and cooler track temps, tire warm-up is a major concern. It takes about five laps to reach optimal temperature, but in qualifying, time is tight.
