Due to the heavy rain in Tokyo, the first qualifying session of the weekend was cancelled. The Free Practice 2 results determined the grid for race 1, so discover the grid.

After a 45-minutes delay because of the rain, race control decided to cancel the qualifying session. It means that the Free Practice 2 results are defining the Race 1 grid. Therefore, Oliver Rowland takes pole position, in front of Edoardo Mortara and Norman Nato. A great operation from Nissan as both drivers are in front.

On the other hand, it’s a disaster for Tag Heuer Porsche as both drivers are out of the top 10, with Da Costa in P11 and Wehrlein in P17. It is also a nightmare for Andretti, with both drivers in the back of the grid. This promise an interesting race, with a lot of actions, as drivers will be looking to give their all to get in the points.
