1–2 minutes

It was qualifying time in Formula 2 in Imola. Alexander Dunne took first place in free practice, but would he be able to do it again in qualifying? Or would an external element come and disturb his plan?

The first time on the clock was for Arvid Lindblad in 1:28.175. But then Victor Martins and afterwards Alexander Dunne took first place with a 1:27.827. Arvid Lindblad showed how at ease he was on this track by improving his time. The British driver took first place with a 0.012-second advantage. It kept changing, as the Frenchman, Victor Martins, was 0.3 seconds faster, with a yellow third sector, which meant he still had room to improve. A RedBull livery went wide in the gravel but managed to come back on track without any damage. Leonardo Fornaroli reminded everyone of his continuous presence by taking the second time on the sheet.

Oliver Goethe reported an impeding situation with Arvid Lindblad on Turn 5, which cost him time. With fifteen minutes on the clock, everyone is in the pit before the last run. Traffic was to be taken into consideration as everyone went out with ten minutes remaining. Sebastian Montoya also seemed to be at ease, at least in the first sector, as he kept improving there. A yellow flag becoming a red flag stopped the session with six minutes on the clock, as Kush Maini lost control of his car and touched the wall. Dino Beganovic and Sebastián Montoya had time to take the line, but Arvid Lindblad didn’t. Luke Browning and Josep Maria Martí both went wide. The top three were really close, as only 0.006 seconds separated them.

Priority was made for Formula 1 with a tight schedule, so Dino Beganovic took pole position with 1:27.418, in front of Sebastian Montoya and Victor Martins. Ritomo Miyata will be on pole tomorrow for the sprint race, after Kush Maini had a penalty for causin the red flag. A great revenge for Hitech, as they were not sure if they would even be able to compete this weekend.
