The ABB FIA Formula E World Championship is back on the glamorous streets of Monte Carlo for a historic moment in the history of motorsport. The Monaco E-Prix is, for the first time in history, a double-header, as Rounds 6 and 7 of Season 11 light up the iconic harbourfront track on Saturday 3 and Sunday 4 May 2025.
Since its launch here in 2015, the all-electric championship has carved out some of its most dramatic moments at this storied circuit. From bold overtakes down the Nouvelle Chicane to edge-of-the-seat finales in the shadow of the palace, Monaco has become a jewel in the crown of Formula E.
It was Mitch Evans who stood in the winner’s circle in 2024, leading a first-ever 1-2 for Jaguar TCS Racing with teammate Nick Cassidy in second position. A year later, the stage is set for even more exciting action on streets steeped in motorsport history.
The Classic Circuit, Twice as Charged
This year, for the first time, Formula E drivers will face the complete Monaco layout twice in one weekend – a first for any FIA championship.
Stretching 3.337 km with 19 turns, the track is unchanged from its F1 counterpart. The drivers will fly down the tight hairpins, accelerate through the tunnel, and test their bravery at the harbourfront chicane. For the GEN3 Evo machines, it’s a testing ground for raw speed, regen, and racecraft.
Watch for Monaco’s twisty nature and energy-sensitive layout to push even the best to the limit over two full races.
Rowland Under Pressure
Following five rounds of unpredictability, the championship fight is hanging in the balance. Oliver Rowland (Nissan) sits top of the Drivers’ Championship on 69 points, but after a battering weekend in Miami, the pursuers are closing in in hot pursuit.
António Félix da Costa and Pascal Wehrlein (TAG Heuer Porsche) lie dormant on 54 and 51 points respectively – both starving following a double-podium in Miami. Include Jaguar’s Mitch Evans and DS Penske’s Max Günther — both winners of races this season — and it’s anybody’s title.
The Manufacturers’ and Teams’ titles are equally tight, with Porsche and Nissan trading blows round by round.
Sustainability in the Spotlight on the Riviera
Formula E is still the world’s most sustainable form of motorsport, and Monaco is leading the way in assisting in driving that vision forward. Some of the highlights of initiatives for the 2025 Monaco E-Prix:
- Better Futures Fund: In partnership with Monaco-based charity SheCanHeCan, the fund assists in gender empowerment and community development.
- ‘Accelerating Change for Gender Equality’ Panel: Youth-centric panel with David Coulthard, Catie Munnings and top leaders of Formula E and McLaren, hosted in the Prince of Monaco’s classic car collection.
- Change. Accelerated. Live: Hosted at Yacht Club de Monaco, the thought-leadership summit brings together voices from education, politics, sustainability and motorsport.
- FIA Girls on Track: Inspiring 250 young women to come to workshops, career briefings, and karting masterclasses to lead the next generation of drivers and engineers.
- Community Engagement: School visits, hospital visits and interactive sessions with over 200 youth in the region, including a challenge on sustainability innovation.

Race weekend seems set to deliver perfect conditions for spectators and teams. With sunny weather around 25°C, low humidity and light coastal wind. Although tyre and battery temperatures will need to be managed carefully in the sun, the dry conditions promise pure racing with minimal interruption.
