The reverse grid for the Formula 2 Sprint went on for an eventful race filled with many overtakes and an intense battle for the podium from start to finish.
As the five lights went out, the pole sitter Joshua Dürksen got a great start, leading the field, while an early collision between Victor Martins and Alexander Dunne emerged a yellow flag, leaving Martins with front wing damage.
A few moments later at Turn 7, Sebastián Montoya spun deploying a full safety car, due to a collision with Amaury Cordeel, leaving Cordeel with a 10-second penalty.
Racing resumed on lap 4 with Dürksen leading the field once again, as the overtakes behind him continued at full throttle.
Josep Maria Martí gained another position with an impressive drive, having started in P11. He overtook Alexander Dunne off track, but Dunne took the position back a few moments later. The battle between the two continued, soon turning into a four-car fight as Luke Browning and Sami Meguetounif joined the mix.
As Beganovic began closing in on the leader on lap 9, the battle for P3 intensified between Richard Verschoor and Rafael Villagómez.
On lap 16, Esterson stopped at Turn 8, deploying the second safety car of the race, which resulted in a convenient moment for many drivers to dive into the pits for fresh compound.
With only four laps to go, Dürksen reclaimed the lead from Beganovic, and the action behind was better than ever. Verschoor and Martí moved up to P3 and P4, closing in on the two drivers ahead.
On lap 22, Martí secured P2 with an impressive overtake on the inside line, followed once again by Verschoor in P3, pushing Beganovic down to P4.
At the start of lap 23, Martí gained another place, moving up to P1, with Verschoor taking P2, forming an unexpected podium with Dürksen in P3.
