In a strong moment for inclusion and diversity in motorsport, Formula E has confirmed that on October 30, 2025, all 11 teams who compete in the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship will have at least one female driver for a day long of testing at Spain’s Circuit Ricardo Tormo in Valencia. This effort complements this year’s International Women’s Day theme, “Accelerate Action“, and follows up on the success of the first-ever all-female test session at Madrid’s Circuito del Jarama in 2024.

The 2024 test was a milestone as 18 talented female drivers enjoyed the exclusive opportunity of driving the state-of-the-art GEN3 Evo competition car, a high-performance vehicle which sets a new benchmark for innovation. It provided them with rich experience, exposure and consciousness, a stepping stone to the enhanced 2025 program.

The Ricardo Tormo circuit test will consist of two extensive periods, and up to 22 female drivers will drive the GEN3 Evo race car to its maximum potential. The event offers a real platform for women talent to prove their worth and further develop their careers.

Alberto Longo, Formula E’s Co-Founder and Chief Championship Officer, was eager to stress the importance of this initiative, stating the intention is to break down barriers and provide women with equal rights in motorsport. This was echoed by Pablo Martino, FIA Head of Formula E, pointing to the emphasis on diversity and inclusion throughout the championship.

As well as the specific test, Formula E and the FIA further encourage women in motorsport through initiatives like the FIA Girls on Track program, which introduces young women to the sport and encourages interest in STEM. The October 2025 Circuit Ricardo Tormo test is another milestone in promoting gender equality in motor racing. All these combined aim to create a more inclusive motorsport future where talent is discovered and developed whatever the gender.
