With the announcement of a the new partnership with Australian technology giant Atlassian, Williams Racing is entering an exciting new era. With the multi-year deal, which was revealed on Tuesday, Atlassian becomes the team’s Official Collaboration Software Partner, Official Technology Partner, and Official Title Partner. It is being marketed as the biggest business deal in the team’s 48-year history, demonstrating growing faith in Williams’ ambitious turnaround strategy.

A Declaration of Purpose

The team, now known as Atlassian Williams Racing, is undergoing a significant makeover with the goal of reaching its former heights. Arriving at a perfect moment, the legendary team is committed to regaining its reputation as one of Formula 1’s legends. Certainly with 114 Grand Prix victories and nine Constructors’ Championships, Williams is still among the most successful F1 teams in history. Despite its poor recent performance—it finished ninth out of a possible 10 last season.

So with more than 300,000 customers globally, Atlassian, the world leader in team collaboration and productivity software, believes that Formula 1 and its own values share great synergy.

Mike Cannon-Brookes, CEO, viewed this partnership and noted:

“Formula 1 is the ultimate team sport. It’s where engineers, developers, commercial teams, pit crews and countless others work together in real-time at incredible speeds to race for a podium finish. Atlassian shares Williams’ deep belief in the power of teamwork.”

The partnership is therefore more than a branding opportunity; Atlassian’s cutting-edge technology will be integrated into Williams’ operations, simplifying collaboration and productivity throughout the board. Hopefully reliving the hardworking trusted excel sheets of their job.

New Beginning On And Off The Track

The Atlassian logo will be extensively displayed on the FW47 racing vehicle, driver uniforms, team gear, and across Williams’ whole business as part of the agreement. On Friday, February 14, the official racing livery for 2025 will be revealed ahead of the official Formula One Season Opening Event at London’s O2 Arena on February 18, where the FW47 will be shown to fans for the first time.

The new identity is also on the driving list; it extends beyond sponsorship and technology. The incredibly talented Spaniard Carlos Sainz joins from Ferrari, accompanied by the Thai-Brit Alex Albon. Their expertise combined with their natural quickness could be the key to the team’s comeback.

The Road Ahead

Atlassian Williams Racing is back officially on March 16th, starting the 2025 season of Formula 1 in Australia. New investment, new tech, and fresh resolve mean the team is ready to fight its way back up the grid.

James Vowles, team principal, commented:

“Attracting a title partnership of this size and significance is a momentous day in our team’s illustrious history and a major milestone in our comeback transformation.”

Atlassian Williams Racing is prepared to embark on a new ambitious chapter, one that may potentially see them reaffirm their status as a dominant force in Formula 1, thanks to their history, ambition, and the support of a global technology powerhouse.
